Teairra Mari Appears on “Love & Hip Hop,” Drops Latest Single, & Celebrates her 24th Birthday

In more reality TV news, Teairra Mari finally popped up on the third episode of “Love & Hip Hop” when she visited her close friend Emily Bustamente.  Though she’s not part of the main cast, she’ll have a recurring role through the season.   Today the young R&B songbird celebrates her 24th birthday and, in honor of that, she dropped her latest single “U Did Dat.”  It’s the first single off her upcoming album, produced by Kelly Rowland’s “Motivation” producer, Rico Love.  [Have a listen].

Teairra Mari’s relevance to the show is still a bit unclear to me at this time, and I’m curious to see what she’ll be bringing to the story-line.  She’s enjoyed a relatively successful musical career and I’m wondering about her decision to add “reality TV” to her resume.  We all know folks like to hate on reality TV “stars,” and this could potentially effect her career – whether for better or worse remains to be seen.  In a recent interview she did with The YBF she states: “I would hope it has a positive impact.  My fans hear my music and they know my personality. Whether you hate it or love it, hopefully you can respect it.  I don’t know if being a reality star is what I want to do, but my friends and family tell me I am made for TV.”

Well, we’ll see.  After being MIA for so long, this may just be a good look for her.  Meanwhile, she was just as cute as she wanted to be on the episode, and wishing her a Happy 24th!

Honestly I thought she was a little annoying on the last episode. However I can’t help but think about she and Rhianna came out at the same time, and Rhianna just took off and she really didn’t. She has an ok voice, pretty girl hope she finds her way.

Yeah, she seemed a little young to me (which she is, obviously – lol) and I wasn’t a fan of her personality either. I didnt appreciate her putting Emily in that situation when the girl had clearly expressed she wasnt comfortable. That seemed kind of foul.

But definitely a cute girl, and hopefully this stint in Reality TV helps rejuvenate her career.

I was a little confused about her appearance on the show, too. But I don’t watch it regularly, so I actually didn’t know what was going on in general. Wow I can’t believe she’s my age. I actually loved her debut album that came out when I was in college. It was very saucy & hood-fabulous :-)
